I’ve taught IGCSE Biology for eight years and still enjoy the topics that get students asking lots of questions, especially genetics and inheritance. My lessons usually start with a quick recap before we tackle something new using diagrams and exam questions. I’m also quite particular about biological terminology. A student can understand a process perfectly but still drop marks if the key words are missing, so we practise getting those answers precise.

Hi! I’m an IGCSE Biology tutor with five years of experience, and human biology is definitely my favourite part of the course. I use a lot of sketches when explaining things like circulation, gas exchange and the nervous system because a page of notes doesn’t always make the process obvious. Once a topic makes sense, we switch to past-paper questions. I like students to explain answers back to me too, as it quickly shows what has actually stuck.

My background is in biotechnology, followed by several years working in education. I now specialise in IGCSE Biology and have taught students with a wide range of abilities. Cell division, genetics and molecular biology are particular areas of interest for me. Lessons are structured around understanding the science first and applying it second. I regularly use unfamiliar data and graph questions because these are often where otherwise well-prepared students lose marks.
